Ring ring! The Cafe has another new recipe! Hello everyone, how are you all doing today? I thought I would post another recipe because today I made Fried Shrimp for the first time. It didn't turn out to be crisper than I wanted but I think if I refry it again, it'll probably be crisper because I Fried some Fried Chicken for the first time last month and when I refried it, it was crisper and yummier! I had intended on making and posting this recipe since last month I believe, but couldn't because Amazon Fresh always ran out of them....especially the ones in this size. Luckily, I was able to cash on some the other day and I had to act fast before they ran out. Lol, anyways in today's new recipe, we are going to make Fried Shrimp. Let's get started.
Serving Size: I used Colossal Shrimp so the serving size is probably for 4-6 people. As always, if you want to cook for more people, double the recipe and use a bigger pot. By the way, make sure you wash the Shrimp before you start prepping them.
Cooking Time: 25-30 minutes. Prep time included.
Ingredients:
2 Bags of Cooked Colossal Peeled & Deveined Shrimp
2 Cups of Flour
3/4 Cups of Cornstarch
2 Cups of Milk
2 Eggs
4 Cups of Canola Oil
Seasonings:
Black Pepper
Salt
Garlic Pepper
Lemon and Herb
Old Bay
Goya
Garlic Powder
Cumin
Optional: Melted Butter with Basil
Cookware:
1 8 Quart Stock Pot
1 Tongs
1 Rubber Baster
1 Cooling Rack
1 Sheet of Parchment Paper
2 Large Bowls
Instructions:
1) Pour 2 cups of flour into one of the large bowls. Then pour 3/4 of cornstarch into the same bowl.
2) Pour 2 cups of milk into the other large bowl, along with 2 eggs.
3) Take the seasonings and sprinkle them into the milk/egg batter and the flour/cornstarch batter.
4) Optional: coat some melted butter with basil onto the shrimp.
5) Dip each shrimp into the batter and then the flour and place them onto a sheet of parchment paper over a cooling rack. Repeat these steps until you've coated all the shrimp.
6) Pour 4 cups of canola oil into the pot and heat it up for about 10 minutes.
7) Take the shrimp and put it into the pot for 3-5 minutes. Repeat this until all the shrimp is fried.
8) Enjoy!
